These are examples for possible topics and categories:
- #NewHere #Introduction: What is the Fediverse and what possibilities does it offer? How do I get started?
- Policy & Democracy: How can we convince politicians, journos and institutions to engage in the Fediverse and support the development? How can we use the Fediverse to help foster democracy and fight against fascism?
- Tech & Development: What software does the Fediverse need? Where can we make it even better? How can the User Experience and Onboarding be improved? How can ActivityPub and ATProto be bridged?
- Art & Culture: How can we create a diverse artistic and cultural landscape in the Fediverse? What do artists and creative professionals need in order to reach their audiences? How can we keep AI-slop out of the Fediverse?
- Governance & Communities: How can instances be organised? How can decisions be made? What are best practices for moderation? What has to be done to diversify the communities and welcome underrepresented voices?
- Regulation & Law: What legal issues are there? How can the Fediverse be taken into account in digital regulation? Do we need a Fediverse ban for young people and age verification mechanisms?
- Content & Media: What possibilities do artists and performers, content creators and influencers, media outlets and public broadcasters have concerning reach and monetisation? What metrics are important in the Fediverse?
- Research & Archiving: What methods can be used to conduct research on the Fediverse? What does sociology have to say about the social dynamics in the Fediverse compared to Big-Tech-Media? Should the Fediverse itself be an archive for knowledge and science?
Proposals
Tell us about your best practices, experiences and ideas!
If you are a long time pro or #new here, we love to see your talk proposals.
We also would like to explicitly encourage groups that are often marginalized, especially FLINTA*, young people, migrant communities and perspectives from around the world, especially from outside Western Europe. We strive to be inclusive for all people and ask you to let us know your needs.
We don't have fixed tracks — we curate after submission. Please provide three hashtags for your talk. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us to help with your proposal.
You can enter proposals until 2026-06-14 23:59 (Europe/Berlin), 1 day, 21 hours from now.
