Sozialwelten, soziologischer Hintergrund. Ich beschäftige mich mit Reziprozität und dem Fediverse – Thema auch meines Vortrags bei FediDay. Daneben mache ich die Buchhaltung bei Anoxinon e.V., helfe bei FediDay mit und betreibe eigene Infrastruktur.
Sozialwelten, background in sociology. I work on reciprocity and the Fediverse – also the topic of my talk at FediDay. Alongside that, I handle the bookkeeping at Anoxinon e.V., help organize FediDay, and run my own infrastructure.
Sessions
The Fediverse runs on a gift economy in Mauss's sense. The exchange appears to happen between people, with instances as mere substrate. But an instance is substrate and product of the same gifts, and where giver and recipient are strangers, it acts as proxy for the absent party. Standing in for absent parties is work: accounting, law, governance. My own attempt to measure a Fediverse community failed in instructive ways, and reciprocity is why.
