SciOp is an open source project aiming to decentralize research data hosting through BitTorrent and ActivityPub, so that the distribution and long-term archival of endangered research data sets can be shared between institutions and individual volunteers. In this presentation, we will show how SciOp is planning to use ActivityPub to coordinate between instances and to interact with the fediverse at large. It turns out that ActivityPub can be more than just social networking.
